About the Shop
Many will know Gillian from her beautiful Port Melbourne shop, The Stray Dog Booksellers, which was a much loved destination for the book-lovers of Melbourne and beyond. With its timber bookshelves reaching to the ceiling, rolling ladders, communal table and comfy leather couch, customers felt they had entered an era long gone. The shop was listed in The Age Top 5 Bookshop/Cafes.

In 2009 Gillian reluctantly closed the shop and moved her business to the Mornington Peninsula. The business now operates principally as an online shop. In addition, we enjoy maintaining contact with our customers at occasional visits to book fairs and book markets.

Old customers will find the same fascinating and eclectic collection of books available and know they can rely on us to provide the same friendly, personal service; new customers will be delighted to discover such old-fashioned service still exists! So if your trying to source a hard-to-find book, or you just need advice in selecting a special or collectible book for a loved one, we can help.
