The Second World War: Volume 1, The Gathering Storm

UK Revised Edition, 1949. A very good copy in a very good unclipped dust jacket showing original price of 25s. Published a year after the 1st edition. Churchill's note in this edition acknowledges the opportunity it gave him to correct 'various errors'. Churchill also notes it offered the publishers the opportunity to reset in larger type, a change which he believed would be 'agreeable to all readers'. So in many ways this is the preferred volume. No tears, no creases. Binding strong and tight. No previous owner inscription. Black binding with gilt titles. The dust jacket & very nice grey patterned endpapers show initials WSC. Pink top edge. Scattered foxing to the page edges [fore-edges], feps & title pages, but the contents are clean. Book 1 - From War to War 1919-1939; Book 2 The Twilight War Sept 3, 1939-May10, 1940. 18 pages of excellent maps & diagrams. 724 pp protected by clear, removable archival sleeve. A very nice copy in a very good dust jacket.
