Circa 1912, published by the Offices of "The British Baker". Many superb full-plate colour illustrations. Contents includes Wedding, Birthday, Christmas, & Christening Cakes, Fancy Gateaux, Fancy Goods, Sponges, Petit Fours, Meringues, Almond Goods, Nougat, Savoury Moulds, Marzipan Flowers, Piping, Gingerbreads...etc. 136 pp + 28 pp of index & publisher adverts. T. Percy Lewis was the Chairman of Confectionery Judges at the London Exhibition in 1903 and 1912. The book contents are in very good condition, clean and tight with beautiful illustrations. The binding is strong, tight & sound. The outer boards are fair to good, quite stained and have clearly been well used. Blue cloth binding has black tooled design to front board with gilt lettering to front & spine. Basically a very good book but with soiled outer boards. A book highly prized by pastry chefs & bakers & a very collectible item, covering all the techniques/recipes/skills of traditional baking from the late 19th & early 20th centuries.
