1844, First Edition. Highly Collectible and Rare Book. There do not appear to be any First Edition copies of this book available online. The book records in great detail the historic Irish trial of The Queen vs. The O'Connells et al. It comprises 891 pages. Whilst retaining its original front calf board the book has been professionally rebound and is now protected by a solid marbled slip-case. There is mild wear to the corners of the front board. The spine has it's original red and gold leather titles stating The Queen v. O'Connell. The lower quarter of the leather spine is absent with the spine and back board in a matching tan leather. There are 11 facsimile pages at the rear of the book. One page has been replicated as the original page had a nick in it. These are true facsimiles which have been digitally scanned from the original pages. This book is out of copyright. There is some foxing to the first 10 pages and then very little internally for the remainder of the book. I have elected to retain the names associated with the book as they show its provenance. Sir H.E. Starke [1871-1958] was an Australian judge and justice of the High Court of Australia. He was appointed by Prime Minister Hughes. In 1939, Starke was created a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael & St. George. He resigned from the High Court on January 31, 1950. Little is known about the second name on the inside board, Alice Curwen Walker [1904 - 1957] except she appears to have been the daughter of Charles Curwen Walker [1856-1940] a Christadelphian writer. This book is a rare treat for any collector of Irish history. Please see photos for condition of the book. The last two pages show the quality of the digitally scanned pages. The book will require insurance to be paid by the purchaser.
