Herodotus, Translated from the Greek, with notes, by the Rev. William Beloe - Volume 3

1812. Volume 3 only. Herodotus was known as the "Father of History'. Beloe was only the second Englishman to translate his work with the first by Littlebury in 1737. Original quarter calf with red & black marbled boards, & black panels with gold gilt titles to spine. Binding strong, tight & mostly clean with no inscriptions, but a little tanning & spotting to endpapers & scattered, owing to the age of the parchment paper. Boards also show a little rubbing & wear generally & to corners. Overall very good for an 1812 book. Printed by Luke Hansard & Sons. 484 pp. Leigh & Sotheby
