RARE 1766 Edition in remarkably good condition. 276 pp. This is the hard to find & Highly Collectible 3rd volume in the series which contains the "Dissertation On the Olympic Games" - Of the Original Olympic Games; Of the Restitution of the Olympic Games; Of the Olympiad; Of the Olympic Stadium; Of the Foot-Races; Of the Wrestling; Of the Pentathlon; Of the Horse-Races; Of the Several Chariot Races; Of the Candidates for the Olympic Crown; Of Gymnastick Exercises ........and more! Original tan calf binding is strong & tight - rarely found in this condition. Gold gilt etching & titles to spine, with title etched onto the original red leather inset, & 5 raised bands. Normal wear, & to corners, & some foxing to endpapers, but very little internally. Owner inscription dates from 1776! Printed for J. Dodsley in Pallmall. Vol 3 only, [other volumes contain odes & verse & not the Olympic Dissertation]. A rare treat which would make a superb gift for an Olympic medalist!
