||September 1938, First Edition, first impression. Only the books showing September 1938 are the true First Editions of this book. Sassoon's autobiography. Siegfried Sassoon [1886-1967] was one of the leading poets of the First World War and was awarded the Military Cross for bravery on the Western Front. He was a noted English poet who wrote about the war as it truly was, not disguising the horror of the trenches. Clean and tight internally with no foxing except slight touch on front endpaper. Olive/tan boards patterned with mottled print. Green oval titles to spine display gilt titles with gilt publisher name at base of spine. There is wear to the fore-edges of the boards, rear board, and a touch at head/bottom of spine. There are two previous owner inscriptions on the endpaper. Please see photos for condition of outer boards, else this First Edition is really very good. 293 pp.
